Scott Shepherd serves as Archbell Capital’s Managing Partner and heads its Investment Committee. His focus is building longstanding relationships with sophisticated real estate investors and operators, through developing solutions, delivering on commitments, and standing by borrowers through their business plan execution.
Prior to forming Archbell Capital, Mr. Shepherd headed the Commercial Real Estate Group and was a Management Committee Member at OneWest Bank in Santa Monica. His CRE team launched a middle market loan originations business that issued over $3.5 billion in loan commitments in four years, and acquired and serviced a commercial mortgage loan portfolio that peaked at over $6 billion, with over $1 billion of distressed loans. After OneWest was acquired by CIT in 2015, Mr. Shepherd served as CIT’s West Coast Commercial Real Estate Head.
Mr. Shepherd started his commercial real estate finance career at Goldman Sachs, where he was an investment banker in New York for ten years, and led teams on 50 assignments representing over $12 billion through public company M&A and financing transactions.
Mr. Shepherd earned his MBA with honors from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and his BA in Economics from Northwestern University.
Greg Levitan is a Director and co-founder of Archbell Capital, where he focuses on loan origination. Mr. Levitan has a diverse institutional commercial real estate finance background with an expertise in structured and complex real estate transactions including bridge loans, mezzanine, loan-on-loan, construction, and note acquisitions.
Prior to joining Archbell Capital, he was a Vice President with Guggenheim Partners’ Structured Real Estate Group where he originated over $600 million of stretch senior and mezzanine loans, and underwrote over $3 billion of potential transactions. Prior to Guggenheim, Mr. Levitan was an Assistant Vice President with OneWest Bank, and was responsible for origination, asset management, underwriting, and closing senior bridge loans ranging from $15MM - $150MM, secured by transitional CRE assets and Notes.
Mr. Levitan earned his MBA from the University of California Los Angeles, graduating in the top 5% of his class, and his BS in Business Administration from the University of Southern California. Mr. Levitan also serves on the UCLA Real Estate Alumni Group Executive Board, was accepted to the MBA Future Leaders Program, and is a licensed real estate Broker in the state of California (CA DRE #01874613).
Michael Barker is a co-founder of Archbell Capital and serves on its Investment Committee. Since founding Barker Pacific Group in 1983, Mr. Barker has directed the development of over $2.5 billion in commercial projects across commercial real estate property types, including significant investments in office, industrial, multifamily, retail, and self-storage properties. He oversaw the development of major projects in Los Angeles, San Francisco and the Bay Area, San Diego, San Jose, Phoenix, and Houston. Before starting BPG, Mr. Barker was an officer at Hines Interests, where he headed up development of over four million square feet of office space in Tulsa, Houston, and San Antonio.
Mr. Barker is a former member of the Board of Pepperdine University and currently serves as Chairman of the Board for the John Tracy Clinic, which serves hearing-impaired children. Mr. Barker is an active member of the Urban Land Institute and Lambda Alpha International.
Mr. Barker holds an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin and a BBA from Abilene Christian University.
