Scott Shepherd serves as Archbell Capital’s Managing Partner and heads its Investment Committee. His focus is building longstanding relationships with CRE investors, through delivering on commitments and standing by borrowers through their business plan execution.
Prior to forming Archbell Capital, Mr. Shepherd headed the Commercial Real Estate Group and was a Management Committee Member at OneWest Bank in Santa Monica. His CRE team launched a middle market loan originations business that closed over $3.5 billion in loans in four years, and acquired and serviced a commercial mortgage loan portfolio that peaked at over $6 billion. After OneWest was acquired by CIT in 2015, Mr. Shepherd served as CIT’s West Coast Commercial Real Estate Head.
Mr. Shepherd started his CRE finance career at Goldman Sachs, where he was an investment banker in New York for ten years, and led teams on 50 assignments representing over $12 billion through public company M&A and financing transactions.
Mr. Shepherd is an active member of the Urban Land Institute, where he is a member of a Small Scale Development product council. He earned his MBA with honors from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and his BA in Economics from Northwestern University.
Bryan Yoo is a Senior Associate at Archbell Capital. Mr. Yoo is integral to the loan originations process, involving financial underwriting, completing market diligence, developing loan structures and managing loan closings. He also provides leadership in post-closing asset management, including processing additional loan draws.
Before joining Archbell Capital, Mr. Yoo worked in the CBRE Financial Consulting Group practice where he assisted with financial underwriting for commercial real estate clients. Mr. Yoo started his career in technology management consulting at IBM, where he was a Senior Consultant for four years leading business optimization implementation programs for clients.
Mr. Yoo is an active Urban Land Institute member in the Young Professionals Group. He earned his MBA, with a dual concentration in Real Estate and Data Analytics, from the University of Southern California. He earned his BS/BA in Accounting and Economics from the University of Maryland.
Michael Barker is a co-founder of Archbell Capital and serves on its Investment Committee. Since founding Barker Pacific Group in 1983, Mr. Barker has directed the development of over $2.5 billion in commercial projects across property types, including office, industrial, multifamily, retail, and self-storage properties. He oversaw the development of major projects in Los Angeles, San Francisco and the Bay Area, San Diego, San Jose, Phoenix and Houston. Before starting BPG, Mr. Barker was an officer at Hines Interests, where he headed up development of over four million square feet of office space.
Mr. Barker is a former member of the Board of Pepperdine University and currently serves as Chairman of the Board for the John Tracy Clinic, which serves hearing-impaired children. Mr. Barker is an active member of the Urban Land Institute and Lambda Alpha International.
Mr. Barker holds an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin and a BBA from Abilene Christian University.
